Scholarship Program at Kochi University of Technology

The Special Scholarship Program (SSP) at Kochi University of Technology is a fully funded three-year doctoral program for international students interested in conducting advanced research in engineering, technology, informatics, architecture, data science, economics and related fields. The program is research-focused and conducted in English.

Funding

• Full exemption from the ¥15,000 application/examination fee.

• Full exemption from the ¥300,000 enrollment fee.

• Full tuition waiver of ¥535,800 per year for three years.

• Monthly scholarship of ¥150,000 for three years to cover living expenses.

• Additional ¥150,000 travel and initial living allowance for eligible international students living outside Japan.

Жильё при этом не предоставляется бесплатно — университет помогает иностранным студентам найти accommodation, а оплачивается оно из стипендии.

Eligibility

• Applicants must hold, or expect to obtain before enrollment, a qualification equivalent to a master’s degree.

• Applicants should generally be 35 years old or younger at the time of enrollment.

• A strong academic record and appropriate research background are required.

• Applicants need permission from an eligible KUT supervisor before submitting the formal application.

• High English proficiency is required: normally at least TOEFL iBT 72 (Writing 17) or IELTS 5.5 (Writing 5.5), although exemptions are possible in certain cases.
