The Bom Dia / OASis Residency 2027 is a funded international artist residency hosted by Cultivamos Cultura in São Luís, Odemira, Portugal. One selected proposal will receive a residency of 7 to 30 days in March 2027. Applicants may apply individually or as a team of up to two people. The selected resident or team must be physically present at Cultivamos Cultura throughout the approved residency period.
The residency provides:
€1,300 project fee
Travel support of up to €500
Production and materials funding of up to €1,600
Food per diem
Accommodation in a private room in a shared farmhouse
Access to a shared kitchen
Access to a workspace or studio
Free access to Cultivamos Cultura's facilities and resources
Production and material expenses must be approved in advance by Cultivamos Cultura. The organizers provide occasional project support, but residents are expected to work with a reasonable level of independence.
Who can apply?
The open call welcomes international creators, artists, researchers and practitioners from a wide range of disciplines. Applications can be submitted by individuals or teams of up to two people; however, the funding and residency conditions remain the same whether the selected proposal comes from one person or a pair.
Projects with a strong ecological dimension are particularly encouraged. The organizers value proposals inspired by local or natural materials, sustainability, community engagement and environmentally responsible futures. Interaction with the local community and exchange with international artists are also important elements of the OASis program.
Residency activities and outcomes
Residents are encouraged to engage with the community of São Luís through activities such as artist talks, workshops, walks or open studio visits.
The selected project must result in an artistic output that will be presented as part of the OASis group exhibition in 2027. One output produced during the residency will also become part of the Cultivamos Cultura collection. Possible formats include installations, performances, workshops, video or audio works and other artistic or interdisciplinary outcomes.
Application requirements
Applicants must submit:
A project description or statement of intention of up to 500 words
An estimated list of required materials and resources
A signed originality declaration
A portfolio or website
A CV of no more than 4 pages
A project implementation timeline
Five photographs, drawings or other illustrative images related to the proposed project
The project description should also explain how the applicant plans to engage with the local community while leaving room for the project to evolve during the residency.
Selection criteria
Applications will be evaluated according to the originality of the proposal, its feasibility using Cultivamos Cultura's available resources and its relevance to the objectives of the open call.
Applicants should note that the local community in São Luís predominantly speaks Portuguese. Those planning activities outside the village should also consider that public mobility in the area is limited and part of the production budget may need to be used for car rental.
Deadline
Applications are open until October 30, 2026 at 18:00 CET, or until 100 applications have been received. The call may therefore close before the official deadline if the application limit is reached. Results are expected to be announced in the third week of December 2026.
