Whizz is an e-bike subscription service for gig delivery workers in North America. The company rents maintained and insured electric bikes to independent couriers and currently operates across six US states, with New York as its largest market.
About the role
Whizz is looking for an experienced Head of Finance to take full ownership of the company’s finance and accounting function. This is a hands-on operational leadership role focused on accurate reporting, disciplined budgeting and strong financial control.
The successful candidate will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the operations, supply chain and product teams.
Responsibilities
Own the preparation and accuracy of the P&L, cash flow statement and balance sheet
Manage the monthly financial close and management reporting
Oversee inventory and fixed asset accounting for bikes, batteries and spare parts
Maintain the company’s financial model and prepare annual and quarterly budgets
Track performance against the budget and recommend corrective actions
Develop approval procedures, spending controls and segregation of duties
Manage internal accountants and outsourced accounting providers
Oversee payroll, tax filings, statutory reporting and audit preparation
Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections and payment operations
Assess the financial implications of pricing changes, new market launches and operational projects
Requirements
At least 7 years of experience in accounting and finance
Previous experience as a Controller, Head of Finance or in a similar leadership role
Experience managing the full monthly closing process
Strong knowledge of the US market
Experience with inventory and fixed asset accounting
Knowledge of multi-state payroll and tax compliance
Experience managing accounting teams and external providers
Ability to build financial processes and controls from scratch
Experience implementing or migrating accounting systems
Fluency in Russian and strong English skills
