University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) offers an international Research Internship Program that gives undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research projects at USTC laboratories under the supervision of university professors.
The internship lasts from 3 months to 1 year and is open to international students from a wide range of academic backgrounds.
What you will do:
participate in research projects at USTC laboratories;
gain hands-on research experience under the supervision of USTC professors;
develop research skills and build connections with faculty members and students;
explore opportunities for future Master's, PhD, or postdoctoral studies at USTC;
optionally apply for free Chinese language and culture classes.
Eligibility:
applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding a foreign passport;
age between 18 and 40;
currently enrolled full-time in the 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or PhD program;
good command of English;
good health;
no criminal record.
Duration:
from 3 months to 1 year.
Funding:
USTC offers a limited number of fellowships to outstanding applicants.
USTC Fellowship Level A includes:
full tuition waiver;
comprehensive medical insurance;
free university accommodation;
monthly stipend of 2,500 RMB for Bachelor's students, 3,000 RMB for Master's students, and 3,500 RMB for PhD students.
Level B includes:
tuition waiver;
medical insurance;
free university accommodation.
Level C includes:
tuition waiver.
Self-funded participation is also available.
Application deadlines:
For USTC Fellowship Level A:
January 1 – March 31 for the fall semester;
July 1 – September 30 for the spring semester.
Applicants for Level B, Level C, or self-funded participation must apply at least three months before their intended starting date.
