UNIL Master’s Excellence Scholarship

The University of Lausanne (UNIL) offers around 10 Master’s Excellence Scholarships each year to outstanding international students who have graduated from a university outside Switzerland. The scholarships are available for eligible Master’s programmes at UNIL starting in the 2027/2028 academic year.

Funding:

• CHF 1,600 monthly scholarship for the minimum statutory duration of the Master’s programme.

• Exemption from standard course registration fees.

• Scholarship holders still pay a CHF 80 semester fee.

• Accommodation through the FMEL student housing system may be offered subject to availability; rent is paid by the student.

• The scholarship does not fully cover living expenses in Switzerland, so additional personal funds may be required.

Eligibility:

• Applicants must hold, or obtain before starting the programme, a degree from a foreign university considered equivalent to a Swiss Bachelor’s degree.

• Applicants should have an excellent academic record.

• Candidates must meet the language requirements of their selected Master’s programme.

• Applicants must not already be enrolled at UNIL.

• The programme is open to international applicants; there is no published nationality restriction excluding Russian citizens.

Language requirements:
Applicants generally need C1 proficiency in French or English, depending on the language of instruction of the selected Master’s programme.

Application:
The scholarship application also serves as the application for admission to the selected UNIL Master’s programme. Applicants need to provide academic documents, a CV, motivation letter, proof of language proficiency where required and two recommendation letters. There is a CHF 200 non-refundable administrative application fee.
