The Deutsches Museum Scholar in Residence Program offers researchers the opportunity to conduct collection-based research at the Deutsches Museum in Munich. The program is designed for scholars working on projects related to the history of science and technology, conservation science, and other fields connected to the museum's collections.

Participants are expected to develop their research using the museum's extensive collections of scientific and technological objects, archives, photographs, technical drawings, rare books and other research materials.

Who can apply

Applicants from all nationalities are welcome.

Candidates must:

• Hold at least a Master's degree; a Bachelor's degree alone is not sufficient.
• Propose a research project connected to the collections of the Deutsches Museum.
• Have passive German language skills and be able to read German.
• Be prepared to conduct the fellowship in person in Munich.

Researchers at different career stages, including doctoral and postdoctoral scholars, are eligible to apply.

Research areas

Projects should make substantial use of the Deutsches Museum's collections. Innovative approaches to object-oriented research are particularly encouraged, including research in the history of science and technology and conservation science.
