The Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship supports domestic and international students undertaking Higher Degree by Research programs at the Australian National University in Canberra.
The scholarship provides a stipend of AUD 39,069 per year in 2026, paid fortnightly for 3.5 years, with the possibility of an extension of up to six months in eligible circumstances. Additional support includes travel and relocation allowances for students moving to Canberra, as well as thesis and leave benefits.
Scholarships are awarded through a competitive selection process based on academic merit. Applicants must also have an appropriate research supervisor and pursue research aligned with ANU’s research priorities.
New applicants do not need to submit a separate scholarship application. When applying for admission to an eligible research program, candidates should indicate that they wish to be considered for available scholarships.
International application deadline: August 31, 2026.
